Refuse Collection

Containers should be 10 to 30 gallon capacity. No full container should weigh more than 40 pounds. Lumber, tree branches and brush must be cut into 4 foot lengths and tied in bundles not exceeding 2 feet in diameter.

Large objects such as appliances (remove refrigerator doors), water tanks and furniture are picked up from the tree lawn on regular collection days.

Refuse may be placed on the tree lawn no earlier than 6:00 P.M. the day before collection and cans should be removed from tree lawn no later than 6:00 A.M. the following day. Pickup is one day behind during weeks when National Holidays are observed.

Fall Leaf Collection

This program begins the last week in October. Leaves should be raked onto the tree lawn near the curb (DO NOT PUT LEAVES IN THE STREET). City crews will pick up all leaves raked to the tree lawns. Call the Leaf Collection Hotline at 587-9009 to determine your collection day.

The City operates its own composting facility and provides shredded leaf humus to residents during spring and summer months at no charge.

This service is provided at no charge. If you experience a problem, call the county at 216-443-8201. Residents are asked to call as early in the day as possible. During winter months, please have driveway and walkways cleared of snow.

Wet Basement

Before signing any waterproofing contract, contact the Service Department at 587-9015 to schedule a dye test.

Used Motor Oil Disposal

Used motor oil and transmission fluid may be brought to the Service Garage at 5501 Dunham Road for disposal between 8:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Please do not drop off used tires.

Trees on Your Tree Lawns

The City maintains all trees on the tree lawn. If trees are diseased or dead, or if low hanging branches need trimming, please notify the Service Department at 587-9015.

Snow Plowing

During snowfalls of 2 inches or more, all vehicles must be removed from streets to allow snowplows to clear the snow. Residents should not put snow back into the street when shoveling or snow blowing. A snow plow permit is required for private snow plow drivers who clear driveways in the city. Contact the Service Department at 216-587-9015 for requirements.
