Who should I call when I am experiencing a Sewer back-up at my residence?
Please call the Cuyahoga County Sanitary Engineer’s Office at (216) 443-8201. In many cases, they will respond to your call the same day.
Will the Service Department trim (or remove) a tree on my private property?
No. The Service Department will maintain the tree on your tree lawn only. Please call the Service Department office at (216) 587-9015 during normal business hours to request maintenance on your tree lawn tree.
I have no curb in front of my home. Will the Service Department install one for me?
The Service Department does not install curbs. Curbs are usually replaced when the street is resurfaced if there are sufficient funds available. We can attempt to patch the curb with asphalt if you request us to.
The snowplow damaged my tree lawn and/or apron. Am I responsible for repairing this?
No. Please call the Service Department at (216) 587-9015 to report the damage and they will make any necessary repairs and/or restorations.
I’m looking for a private contractor to plow my drive this winter. Do you have any names?
Yes. We have a list of registered plowing contractors. Please call our office at (216) 587-9015 for information.
My street is in terrible condition. Will the City repave it?
Streets to be resurfaced on the Road Program are determined in the Spring of each year. While the Service Department can not guarantee your street will be on this list, we will certainly address any problem areas you may call our office with.
Can I rent a snake from the Service Department?
The Service Department does not have snakes for rent. You may contact Home Depot or a tool rental company such as Miller Tool Rental.
Isn’t it the Service Department’s responsibility to locate my test tees?
No. The County Sanitary Engineer’s Office will attempt to locate your tees. However, if they are not successful, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to provide sewer access for the crew.
Is there a charge to have my sewer snaked?
No. This service is provided at no charge.
Isn’t the City responsible for repairing my public sidewalk?
Sidewalk repair and replacement is the homeowner’s responsibility. You may inquire with the Building Department for a list of registered contractors.
There is a street light out in front of my house. Who is responsible for repairing it?
Street light repairs are the responsibility of the Illuminating Company. However, the Service Department will gladly report street light outages/repairs for you.
I need my water shut off at the street.
The Cleveland Water Department handles all matters regarding your water service.
Will the Service Department collect my leaves for me in the fall? What is my collection day?
Yes. For approximately six weeks every fall the Service Department will collect leaves from your tree lawn. Rake your leaves to the curb for your scheduled collection day. You may call our leaf hotline at (216) 587-9009 for recorded information and collection days beginning the last week of October of every year.
My property was damaged during a city project. Is the City going to take care of it?
The City has an inspection company on all City projects. You may call our office at (216) 587-9015 to report any damage. Your information will be forwarded to the inspector on the job and they will be in contact with you.
I hear the Service Department has a dump truck for rent. How do I go about renting it?
The Service Department no longer provides this service. You may contact a solid waste collection company (ie. BFI, Waste Management, Landmark Waste) to inquire about renting a dumpster.
